The new Mountain View Library is a prime example of a rural, small-footprint, big-impact community project.
Located outside the small town of Randle in the Cascade Mountain range, the 2,800-square-foot library is a significant upgrade from the existing small tenant space, which no longer met community needs.
Our solution focused on flexibility and openness, with an open floor plan ensuring clear visibility throughout the public areas while integrating movable partitions, allowing the space to be readily configured to support focused activities and community gatherings.
The library extends beyond its interior, with main book stacks, reading areas, and flex spaces opening up to a semi-heated, weather-protected outdoor patio—an area ideal for various activities and outdoor reading, which is further enhanced by a double-sided gas fireplace, adding warmth and ambiance to both the interior and exterior spaces.
The project extends beyond books to become a dynamic community center, embodying the essence of a modern, multifunctional space that encourages learning, social interaction, and relaxation in a setting that connects with the natural beauty of its mountainous surroundings.
