While well-maintained, the mid-60sButler Acres Elementary School faced aging systems and energy inefficiency issues. Achieving a silver rating for energy efficiency and environmental design, our approach aimed to revitalize the school with a complete upgrade, inclusive of new windows, an HVAC system, lighting, technology enhancements, and refreshed interior finishes.
A key highlight was reimagining the school's entrance. Initially located at the basement level, requiring visitors to navigate stairs and corridors to reach the office, we relocated the office and entry to the front of the school. This not only improved accessibility but also enhanced security, allowing for a controlled, "buzzed-in" entry system.
Additionally, we expanded the school's capacity by adding six new classrooms to accommodate the growing student population and developed new entry and bus canopies, enhancing the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the school's facade.
